The Outline Import Preferences pane provides options for formatting imported OmniOutliner documents.
Graphic Style - Each item in the Style Groups list groups together a list of Level Styles. The items in the Level Styles list determine what style of graphic items on each level of an outline will be given when imported, and what style will be used for the lines connecting each item. The selected Style Group will be used the next time you import an OmniOutliner document.

To create a new graphic style for imported outlines, press the + button below the Style Groups list. Double-click the "New Prototype" entry to change its name. Then, choose the "Lines" entry in the Level Styles list; the Perview box will show an example of the line style to be used, and you can change this style using the Style and Line panes of the Info window. Then choose the "Level 1 Style" entry, and the Preview box will show an example for how top-level items of the outline will appear once imported; again, you can change this style using the Info window, Font panel, and Color panel. Repeat for as many outline levels as you'd like to have different graphic styles for — the + button below the list will add an additional level style. If you import an outline with more levels than you have styles for, the last style will be repeated as necessary.

Layout type - Here you can choose which of OmniGraffle's automatic layout styles will be applied to imported OmniOutliner documents: tree-like hierarchic lauout is generally best, but force-directed layout might work better for some outlines.
